About Wicklow Mountain Tour

About Wicklow Mountain Tour

The Wicklow Mountains Tour from Dublin meanders through Wicklow, stopping at Glencree Valley, with its poignant German military prisoner cemetery and peace and reconciliation centre. The trail continues past the gorgeous heather and bog land landscape of the Sally Gap, some of the most filmed landscapes in Ireland, to the ‘P.S. I Love you Bridge’. Where we stop for a quick photo stop, a real treat for all the romantics on board! Next up is another movie fan photo stop at picturesque wee Lough Tay, a famous landmark from the epic movie Braveheart. This picturesque lake is also known as the Guinness lake because of its dark waters and white beach. Recently Lough Tay has served as Ragnar Lothbrok’s village in the wildly successful television programme The Vikings. Keen viewers will also recognise Glendalough and the Sally gap from their many appearances in the show.

Next on the agenda is Glendalough, famous for St. Kevin’s monastery and its 10th century round tower, it’s upper and lower lakes and spellbinding scenery. The Glendalough Visitor Centre has a wealth of information on the Irish missionary monks that once lived here and gives a wonderful insight into their unique art of creating handcrafted religious manuscripts. Think, the Book of Kells and the famous Irish Celtic cross as examples of the workmanship of the monks of the day. This 2 hour stop gives plenty of time to explore the picturesque valley on your and to accompany your guide on a short tour of the ruins.

The final stop on this day tour through Wicklow is Avoca Village, another famous Wicklow location, this time as the setting for Ballykissangel. Enjoy lunch in an Irish pub with our exclusive meal deal of that the time to explore the village at your leisure.

The Wicklow Mountains Tour will spoil you with photo opportunities, beautiful scenery and your guide will regal you with stories of Ireland and Wicklow. For the walkers among you two hours guaranteed stop in Glendalough valley gives plenty of time to meander from the lower to the upper lake or to explore a little further. The perfect day tour of Wicklow or anywhere….

"My husband and I decided to take a tour of the Wicklow Mountains Tour on one of our last days in Dublin and boy are we glad we did! Our tour guide Richie added to the excellence of this tour so if you receive him, you are in luck! The tour started on a nice comfortable charter bus that made the whole bus experience more enjoyable. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful day with no rain or clouds. I highly recommend this tour if you have just one day in Dublin." Evelyn E
"If you have one day free while being in Dublin, don't miss this trip. Jerry the guide knows everything!" GabyCaro
"The tour was a nice round through Wicklow National Park with spots, seen on TV as the bridge in "P.S. I love you" or the Guiness Lake, where the TV show "Vikings" was shot. The scenery was beautiful and Richie made it even more enjoyable with fun facts and stories that you usually don't hear. He really built a connection to his customers with asking for their countries and added facts and stories to the tour, based on the country. With local Music, that also told about the region, the rest of the tour was always an experience. We really enjoyed the tour!" Manuel M
